In my school years, I was a terrible student and a teacher’s nightmare who stayed in trouble. During that time, I failed 4th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades before dropping out of high school at the age of 16.  I received my G.E.D. and moved from job to job for nearly a decade.  In 1998, I lost both my parents six months apart and spent time reflecting on my life and decided to make a change.  A year later, I enrolled at Livingstone College and graduated in 4 years with a degree in Elementary Education.  My goal is to teach with enthusiasm and give my students a different experience from my own in grade school. Teaching is my passion and my desire to help young people succeed has afforded me the opportunity to travel the world as an educator.  I am recognized by Apple as an Apple Distinguished Educator, due in large part to my implementation of technology into the classroom that has positively influenced students.

I am a 3rd grade bilingual teacher in the Uniondale School District. I am also an adjunct assistant professor at Hofstra University. I have a Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Educational Studies with a focus in teaching and learning. I also possess a Master of Arts in Bilingual Education. Throughout my career, I have done an extensive amount of professional development in the area of iPad integration in bilingual and ESL classrooms to enhance English language acquisition skills. Furthermore, I have assisted with the deployment of iPods and iPads for 1:1 programs in New York and California. I have a passion for creating digital content for ESL and Bilingual classrooms as well as encouraging students to create original digital content to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in English. My goal is to empower students and transform the way they collaborate and learn in the classroom.
